Prospective Changes to the Pastoral Award

We would like to bring your attention to a current four yearly review underway with the Fair Work Commission regarding the Pastoral Award.

Although these changes are not yet in concrete, we are recommending that you review your current employment and payroll arrangements now.  There is a line of new legislation coming into play by 30 June 2019, including Single Touch Payroll.

Uncertain if your employment agreements and payroll are compliant?  Contact us today for a HR/Payroll Review.

While there are currently no provisions within the Pastoral Award regarding annualised wage arrangements the proposed changes will require employers to conduct an annual review of the hours worked by the employee and a comparison made with the hourly award rate to ensure that the employee is better off overall.  The employer must be able to show  they have reviewed the employees salary at least annually to ensure that the salary is appropriate regarding the hours worked and other award provisions (e.g. overtime).  This review will require the reference of timesheets.

If you would like to read more on these prospective changes please read the following decision documents [2018] FWCFB  154 and [2019] FWCFB 1289.

Tony Perkins from People Smartz will be in Chinchilla for the Western Downs Regional Business Summit being held at the Chinchilla RSL Memorial Club on Monday, 27 May 2019.  Ensure you register for the Summit to hear what Tony predicts for the future of employment compliance for the pastoral industry.
