Although these changes are not yet in concrete, we are recommending that you review your current employment and payroll arrangements now. There is a line of new legislation coming into play by 30 June 2019, including Single Touch Payroll.
While there are currently no provisions within the Pastoral Award regarding annualised wage arrangements the proposed changes will require employers to conduct an annual review of the hours worked by the employee and a comparison made with the hourly award rate to ensure that the employee is better off overall. The employer must be able to show they have reviewed the employees salary at least annually to ensure that the salary is appropriate regarding the hours worked and other award provisions (e.g. overtime). This review will require the reference of timesheets.
