Fair Work Ombudsman Identifies Wage Underpayments

The Fair Work Ombudsman has revealed that it identified more than $330,000 in wage underpayments following surprise audits of businesses in three regional locations.

In his presentation at the Western Downs Regional Business Summit on the 27th May, Matthew Burke advised all attendees that they need to ensure that they are meeting their obligations as employers. This word of warning was based on a number of developments including additional funding being allocated to the ATO to review Employer versus Contractor arrangements as well as more data being available via the Single Touch Payroll system commencing for all employers on 1 July 2019.
